A LITTLE HISTORY - Correspondence in the files of Leon County Abstract show the company was doing business as early as the middle 1890's. Apparently there were several abstract companies operating in Leon County prior to 1900, one of which used the name. About 1903, the companies merged to form one company, and operated under the name Leon County Abstract Company. About 1909, H. H. Brown first acquired an interest in the company, and the Brown family was thereafter involved until the sale by H. K. Brown to John and Marjean Mallard on November 1, 1980. Mr. Mallard is an experienced real estate attorney and has a successful legal practice as well as examining all of the titles for the Title Company. An excellent article on the company written by the late Virginia Nash, a long-time employee, appears in the volume "Leon County History", published in 1986 by the Leon County Historical Commission, et al.
